Lorraine has been working on here Lacto-fermented sodas since late last November. We tasted them for the first time at the Weston price Foundation conference in South San Francisco. Jessica Prentice and her fellow owners of Three Stone Hearth CSA kitchen in Berkeley were sampling their wares. We liked them so much.... actually we became addicted to them. They are delicious, full of probiotics, enzymes, minerals and are very refreshing to boot. Each batch is unique as they are a living food.
Last Saturday Lorraine gave out over 1500 samples to a very appreciative crowd at the 4th of July Market. She will be there every Saturday so come by and say hello and sample for yourself. her stand is behind the Ferry Building opposite the Primavera Resturant Booth.
Nigel/Lorraine...
I am a friend of Jen Maiser's and a month or two ago both of you, me and she stood at the market having a chat and Lorraine was telling me all about her soda plans. I was intrigued, being a Brit and having made my own fermented soda when I was a kid. Anyway - I was eagerly awaiting the time they'd be available. Somehow I missed it last week, but today I bought a bottle of the grapefruit and I was not disappointed. It is stellar - wonderful, the finest soda I have ever tasted. I absolutely love it. Thank you for sharing this and giving us the chance to enjoy such a fantastic product.
